During my recent stay at Pension Oz over New Year, I was warmly greeted by friendly staff who made the experience nice. The cozy atmosphere of the homestay, paired with its thoughtful design, provided a perfect retreat after exploring the nearby attractions. With just a short 5-minute drive to Gala Yuzawa, we were able to enjoy fantastic skiing, and the ski pass vendor onsite made everything convenient. Given the heavy snow during my visit, dining options were limited, but I opted for the 1500¥ dinner, which was a good surprise presented in traditional omakase style. Each bite showcased fresh, local produce and showcased the culinary talents of the kitchen. The shared bathrooms were immaculately clean, a testament to the homestay's overall hygiene standards. I particularly appreciated the free Wi-Fi, which kept me connected, and the communal refrigerator was a great touch for storing snacks for my two teenage sons. Pension Oz is a charming choice for active travelers like myself, offering not just comfort but a taste of local culture in a beautiful winter setting.
